Katzaniel
Dream as originally told by Jareena Faye. (She gave me permission to make it into a story, so here goes...) Jamie woke up early that morning, since the sun shone directly into her eyes. Frustrated that on her last summer vacation before graduation she had not yet been able to sleep in, Jamie rolled over, but the room was too bright and the obsessively cheerful chirping of birds outside the window made her unable to ignore the light and drift off. Jamie's parents had rented a cabin in a fairly secluded spot by a lake. They had thought it was a great idea, and it had been fairly cheap. None of them had figured out what made the spot so undesirable except that no one else seemed to want it, which meant no one else was around, which meant that Jamie wished she didn't have to be there. And on top of that she couldn't sleep, so she was getting irritable. Well, may as well get up. Jamie pulled on her slippers and trotted downstairs. Her parents were still sleeping, which was annoying, but she was quiet and let them sleep. She ate a quick breakfast and wandered outside. There were five cabins in a semicircle, all overlooking a lake. It was a little green, but she didn't mind that. It sparkled and she sat for a while looking at it, not really feeling like going for a swim yet. Instead she decided to explore the area. She wandered around the circle looking at the cabins from all around, noticing the dead patches of grass where there had probably once been kiddie swimming pools or some such. One cabin looked particularily interesting, being much older than the others and a lot more rundown. It looked more expensive, too, so it didn't make sense that the owners would neglect it like that. Losing interest, Jamie decided to go for a hike in the hills behind the cabins. She found a mini forest and even an old tree fort, but leaves were everywhere and it wasn't much fun sitting in it alone. Sighing she headed back to grab some lunch, wondering what to do for the rest of the day. Maybe she'd take the canoe out for a while. When she got back to their cabin, she ate some lunch, wondering where her parents had gone until she saw the note they'd left saying that they had gone canoeing. Figures, thought Jamie, wondering when they'd be back. She wandered around the beach area for a little while again before heading back to the large old cabin. She tried to see through the windows but only succeeded in tallying the different types of curtains and blinds hanging in all the rooms. Finally she tried the door, expecting it to be locked, but it opened. (to be continued)
Aardvark
There's a running joke among me and a few mates about our local, the Tollgate. Wonderful little bar with enough pool for all, smack bang in the middle of about forty biker gangs' territories. So it's a biker bar. The joke is about a massacre that probably never happened which resulted in the destruction of the old Tollgate and the new one was built on the corpses of the bikers who weren't killed in the massacre that never happened Now the ghosts of these bikers have nothing to do but haunt anyone who cheats at pool. Sometimes these biker ghosts wear pirate costumes. That is all
