Vigil StarGazer Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 (edited) Previously on Magic the Gathering (The Phryerxian Revelation) … … Outnumbered by the minions of Yawgmoth, the ‘Wandering’ was forced to crash-landed into the world of Eternalia ruled by a Time Sorcerer named Locke. Young Seth had desperately accepted a duel with Locke to gain an exit to the time-frozen plane. Seth had a winning start but he underestimated Locke’s turbo stasis deck and lost when he ran out of spells to draw. His deckmaster was forfeit to Locke. To regain Seth’s deckmaster, the inexperienced Faye challenged Locke again in a desperate battle. Faye was confident she can win but already Locke had controlled the game by placing his enchantment stasis early with the enchantment kismet. Faye seems to be in serious trouble… … Locke grinned as he declared, “and now I’ll use all my left over mana in my pool to activate my Time Elemental’s ability; I’ll return Stasis into my hand at the end of your turn before my upkeep. Now without stasis I will go through my untap phase with all my lands and… hey what’s going on? How come I can only untap one island?” Faye tossed her white hair and revealed her defiant grin. “You’ve got a powerful deck Locke, but I have fought fire with fire.” Faye revealed an artifact she played on the field, the very same artifact she had played by letting Locke countered her Serra Angel and used her remaining two mana to cast into play: the Winter Orb. The Icy Orb floated slowly above the white polar bear, now dominating over the field, allowing only one land to be untapped per turn. Locke tried to steady himself but fails, and now he was the one with almost no mana left and nothing to defend his life. “I’m done.” Locke declared dejectedly. Faye’s smile was more pronounced, and now she planed carefully her next few spells to cause another blunder. Her creatures and lands are now free from the stasis spell and at once her plan spring into action. She casted sword of plowshare on Locke’s zephyr falcon and at once Armageddon the playing field so that all lands goes to the graveyard. Locke was powerless to stop her with only one mana untapped and now with his entire mana source gone Faye declared her attack. Her white knight, Mesa Pegasus, and the Savannah Lion, powered by Crusade, dropped Locke’s life meter below zero. With the winner decided the duel field dissipated back into the iced throne room just as the whole plane began to tremble. With Locke’s defeat Eternalia began to thaw. “The whole citadel is crumbling!” Leia shouted. Just then an armada of Phyrexian Warships and Plague Carriers arrived on the plane’s atmosphere. “It’s them,” Locke managed to spat out a curse despite his weaken state. A giant Phyrexian ship devoured its way through the citadel, from the ship deck a figure came into the planewalker’s view. “So at last Locke,” Gammoth muttered under his gruesome face. “Your stasis field cannot stands to protect your world forever, and now thanks to Locke this puny world laid opened to conquest. We will very much enjoyed draining every last bit of mana out of this mana rich plane.” Both Faye and Leia gasped, but Locke’s eyes remained ice cold even as the plague carriers began to assault the newly awaken world. “Here!” In one quick motion Locke tossed the deckmaster back to Seth, “Use your magic to take us out of here.” Quickly in a flash of lightning Seth drew the Shivan dragon out of his deck master. The beast howls in rage in its summon and torn the nearby plague beast into pieces. Seth, Leia, Locke, and Faya climbed aboard as the dragon soared away from the condemned citadel. The citadel seemed smaller and smaller as the dragon continued to soar higher into the sky. “You know them?” Leia asked, and was promptly jabbed in the ribs by Faye, which caused the black mage to almost fall off the dragon’s back. Locke gave this almost frustrating look at the three of them. The three of them were almost expecting Locke to blast them with his spells, but Locke calmed down in the span of a second. His expression changed from irritation to a distant narrative as he related the history of his world: Long ago a clan of mages was founded on this remote plane of existence. While the plane seems barren and frostbitten, it was rich with untapped mana resource beneath the frozen ice. One eventful day a powerful planewalker came and prophesized the invasion of the Phyrexians, abhorrence creatures beyond their imagination and soulless machination that consumes all worlds they come in sight with. Not even the mage clan could withstand such an assault. Yet the planewalker offered a light of hope: a planewalker of immense power will come and defeat this menace and restore the worlds. The mage clan had decided to pool all their magic to create this deckmaster with twofold purpose: to lock their world into time stasis so the Phyerxians could not assault their precious world and to wait for their savior to come. They bestowed the deckmaster to their youngest but the descendent with the most potential, Locke. Then Locke was instructed to still in this world, holding everything, including themselves into stasis while Locke was charged to await for the savior… The Shivan dragon carried the four of them back to ‘The Wandering’. Yuna, the artifacter mage explained that the ship could not take off from this planet because the plane-phasing drive was still damaged. They need to repair the crystal in order to power up the ship again. Locke remembered seeing a crystal similar to the one on ‘The Wandering’ in his forefather’s books saying there was a cave not far away where those crystals could be found. Locke said he could go alone to bring back some crystals but Leia suggested Faye should go along. Leia felt that Locke could not be trusted and felt that Faye should keep a close eye on him, Seth overhead and said he felt Locke could be trusted. In the end Locke summoned a Zephyr Falcon, assisted in helping Faye mount on it and flew toward the distant sky… Feedback Level: Level 4 Edited March 25, 2004 by Vigil StarGazer
