Beautiful Nightmare Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 (edited) Why do you tell us we have to fit in? Why are we not allowed to sin? Why cant we make our own mistakes? All wrapped up in case one breaks. But they dont't see what i see, They will never understand me. Cause they think they know, Whats best for me. They dont know, Cause they cant see, Blind to every opinion but there own, And force on to me everything they've known. Edited February 8, 2004 by Arwen

Peredhil Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 This reminds me of the parental danger of projection - seeing one's own mistakes so firmly in one's children that one misses seeing that the children aren't one's self in younger form, and have the right to make their own mistakes...
Yuki Kokoro Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 This is wonderful. An excellent expression of that trapped feeling protection sometimes brings. I especially liked: "All wrapped up in case one breaks" and "force on to me everything they've known". It's a hard struggle, but as strange as it seems sometimes as humans we do have to fall and hurt ourselves before we can really understand and learn. After all, just because a certain action lead to this at one point, doesn't mean it will always lead there. The cry of: "Blind to every opinion but there own" and "they will never understand me" is something everyone goes through as they grow up, but remember that although you have the right to make your mistakes, protection is just another way of showing love.
Alaeha Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Hmm... reminds me of one of my Dad's random cutesy sayings. Some people learn by hearing about other people's mistakes. Some people learn by watching other people's mistakes. Some of us just have to pee on the electric fence for ourselves. I've done all three. If you'd like, I can recommend a few good emotional urologists... Nicely done. Good to see structure making something of a return.
