Mira Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 Silently I travel As I make my way to the City of Dis When I entered the portal to this blighted land I did as the inscription on the gates read In my heart not a shred of hope remains But still I search. Search for the answers that had eluded me in life Search for the questions my soul still seeks to ask I will have no respite until time is at an end I am a damned man. Damned for sins I did not understand For to waste one's life On such ineffectual matters as money, power, or lust Is perhaps the greatest sin of all.
Yuki Kokoro Posted November 26, 2003 Report Posted November 26, 2003 I enjoyed this, it made me thoughtful. Interesting the way you say: "In my heart not a shred of hope remains// But still I search" Implying that there is still hope for something. I like the tone of pondering sin and repenting, instead of railing against it or denying it. Makes a good warning. Also, props for teaching me something about Dante's Inferno. I've never read it, but figured the "City of Dis" was something in literature so I searched for it and read a bit about it. I love poems that are more meaningful the more you know.
