Ayshela Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Bubblegum Pop Bubblegum Pop, that’s the order today. That’s the flavour of words that it’s okay to say. Everything else is too dreary and dark, So deep in the back of the files they’ll park. Write nothing violent, nothing too crude, Say nothing hateful, above all not rude! Only what’s lighthearted, merry and gay, For Bubblegum Pop is the flavour today. <_>
Nyyark Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 Heh, I like it alot. A nice touch of cyncism. I agree that many times people censor the darkness from the world. Maybe they fear others pain. Anyway I think this is really clever. The use of bubblegum flavor really brings out the over-artificial-sweetness of the censorship. Also you do a great job of managing to adopt another voice in the middle of the poem. Write nothing violent, nothing too crude, Say nothing hateful, above all not rude! Really, really well done.

Ayshela Posted November 12, 2007 Author Report Posted November 12, 2007 amazing how what once was true comes back around. *smiles and sighs* I almost wrote this again this last week. Wonder what that says about my life? O.o
Quincunx Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 I see no problems with going back and enjoying your own work, I see no problems with re-reading a lost treasure, but re-writing. . .doesn't strike me as quite as healthy. Not sure why.
Da_Yog Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 amazing how what once was true comes back around. *smiles and sighs* I almost wrote this again this last week. Wonder what that says about my life? O.o It says things change. Perhaps the dark can no longer be covered up and needs to be revealed. Perhaps another flavor suits you better today? Perhaps this poem reminded you of something else you need to write about? Perhaps you just waxed nostalgic for a moment. Perhaps...perhaps...perhaps...
Finnius Posted November 18, 2007 Report Posted November 18, 2007 And also, bumping gives people the chance to enjoy it again if they'd missed it the first time, which I managed to. Lovely, brilliant, funny, and a touch snippy. Awesome.
