Corban West surveyed the party with a small satisfied smirk playing across his lips. It had only just begun, but already the room was mostly filled with happy guests and their family, not a single unmasked face in the group. Dressed in a black tuxedo, complete with top hat, cane, and half mask - the Phantom of the Opera - Atlas Corp Ltd's new manager couldn't help but feel pleased with himself as he took in the carefully budgeted extravagance of the Hallowe'en party. "You certainly have outdone yourself, Sir," Mia acknowledged, the PDA in her hands offsetting her own costume - Selena Kyle/aka Catwoman. "You made a saving on the previous year's party of at least twenty grand without sacrificing the standard..." "I know, I did Mia," Corban chuckled. "We have to keep the masses happy, even if we're saving money while doing so. Now come on, put that toy away and join this Phantom for a mingle." Mia obliged quietly, slipping the PDA into a special pouch at her belt and accepting Corban's hand. Like the most gracious of couples (a topic that was under serious debate amongst the staff - just how far did Mia's relationship with Corban go?), Corban approached the first costumed stranger in the crowd and extended his hand. "Happy Hallowe'en!" Corban cheered. "And who, might I ask, is behind this wonderful mask?" OOC: Freeform RP for now. Feel free to interact with Corban as naturally as you feel comfortable.

Linkin Park You know, there was the longest time when I could literally kick myself - I took interest in this band literally a week before they arrived in NZ for a concert 7 years ago. Having not heard much of their music, I decided not to go to the concert. That very week I got their first album and proceeded to kick myself semi regularly for the next few years. Needless to say, this time around I didn't even hesitate when the tickets were released. Although their style has changed a bit over the years, I've always had a fond spot for LP, especially as they were one of the first bands for me to find on my own (as opposed to picking it up off a family member or something). Their opening act was Chris Cornell - I'm not very familiar with his music although there was the occasional 'hey I know this' feeling. The only song I accurately pinpointed was the theme song for Casino Royale. Despite my lack of knowledge about the guy, he had a good voice and performed well. But of course, he wasn't who I - or most of the crowd - was there for. And boy did Linkin Park deliver. Chester and Mike are fantastic stage personalities, always saying or doing exactly the right thing to fire us up. They had a brilliant selection of their best, as well as some acoustic versions too. If I had any complaint of the entire evening...it's that my friend won a competition to meet them beforehand and I didn't! Definitely one of the best concerts I've ever been to, and one that both longtime fans and newcomers to the band were able to enjoy.

Okaaaay I think I'm going to keep signup open for at least another week just to scrape together some more players but for now here's a current list, along with an update of information: Welcome to the 2007 Halloween party for Atlas Corp Ltd. A large, multi national and multi faceted organisation that has a hand in pretty much every industry. Part of the reason for the organisation's widespread focus is the secret to its longevity, having been around for more than 80 years. This party is to mark the first function thrown by the Corporation's new manager - Corban West. A young, idealistic entrepreneur, West is the first leader of Atlas Corp who is not descended from the organisation's founder. He has some shiny new ideas to bring Atlas even further into the modern world, one of which involves moving at least 40% of the organisation online. This means redundancies, paycuts, a lot of things people won't like. West already had enemies amongst the older board members who he beat for the top roll, and he is well aware that his ideas are going to create further enemies among his employees. That's part of the reason for this party. He's rented the entire Gold Ridge hotel, all 20 floors of it, and has not only invited all employees and any family who chooses to come, but also any tenants at the hotel who happened to be staying there on the night of Halloween. It's going to be a killer party. West, along with his trusted secretary Mia, just have no idea how literal that term may become... Current players: Mod/NPCs - Corban West/Mia. Okaaaaay well given the fact that by my watch it is 30 days till Samhain, and no one was interested in my other WW idea, I've decided to run a Halloween themed one instead. Now, this is not a repeat of the 2004 Halloween party previously held here at the Pen. Quick rundown of the situation - Some big corporation (yet to be named) is holding a massive Halloween party and they've taken up nearly all of a hotel to do so (ie boardroom AND most of the rooms). Costume is compulsory, and just as the party starts to get going, the hotel goes into lockdown and people start dropping off. If you need a mental image, think Nakatori (sp) towers in the first Die Hard film. Don't know yet if the wolf(ves) will be actual werewolves or just crazy people. You can play either a member of the party, or one of the few non-invitees who snuck in to the party by wearing a costume. Since this is a big corporation, you can do anything from low level secretary to being one of the executives. Hope to close sign up after a week or two but it'll depend on numbers... So come one come all, and let's have some fun

Mmm... Considering the lack of interest in the Saw theme, and the impending holiday, what would y'all say to me running a Halloween werewolf? Not like the one we had a few years ago within the Pen- just a fairly standard Werewolf game set at a Halloween costume party. Say ye yay or nay?

So...If I made it exactly the same but removed Jigsaw from the fold, you'd want to play Ozy? Even though the traps would stay the same?

Well it depends...I *was* going to use the house setting and the characters of Jigsaw and Amanda, the traps, the time limit in form of poison, etc...but if no one is up for a darker/gorier werewolf I'll sit on it until I get more interest and someone else can pick up this round...

Y'know Wyv, I think a viewer's opinion on the Prestige and the Illusionist might actually depend on the order you see the films. I saw the Prestige first and absolutely loved it, but I found the Illusionist to be very eh and predictable. Perhaps the two are just so alike that they almost spoil each other?

Well I can start a sign up today...but is anyone keen to do the Saw theme? Or is my gore writing going to deter?

Mynx rested her back against the wall and observed the mayhem that was taking place with her MageSight. It was an intriguing effect, watching the shadows of those she recognised interacting with those that didn't, the blurring of figures tumbling and tripping over each other, the familiar voices of Pennites mixing with those of the newcomers... It was almost enough to give a cat a headache. Chuckling to herself at the familiar sound of Wyvern bargaining, Mynx felt a brush against her side and glanced down to find a familiar wolf at her side. ::Enjoying the madness, Kitty?:: Tanny's mind voice carried her amusement. "It's nice to know some things never change even when the numbers do," Mynx murmered back to her friend who chuckled in her mind. ::We don't need to keep an eye on you to make sure you don't go Guinea Pig hunting, do we?:: "Please," Mynx snorted. "I don't eat anything that speaks and has a mind for its own. Not anymore, anyway." the feline's face creased slightly in a frown at the memory that suggested to Tanny she'd better not push the matter. Mynx's attention was drawn when she noticed one of the newcomers - Bartleby? - dash under a nearby table to hide from the ruckus. ::Poor thing, he seems shy,:: Tanny observed. "Quite," Mynx noticed that no one was sitting at the table currently serving as a fortress and smiled to herself. "How about a drink, Wuffie?" ::?:: "Just lose the fur coat and follow me." Laughing, Tanny shimmered into her human form and followed Mynx as the feline moved towards the table. Sitting down facing one another, the pair feigned ignorance that Bartleby was hiding between their chairs while Mynx conjured drinks for herself and Tanny. Mynx looked away for a moment as if thinking, and moments later a kitten minion scampered up the back of her robe and onto the table. "Why don't you go and keep our new friend company?" Mynx suggested to the minion. The kitten - adorably cute as ever - bowed its head and jumped off the table, only to crawl under it and bound up to Bartleby. Slightly startled at the appearance of the kitten, for a moment he could only stare as the thing looked at him with wide grey eyes, before it uttered a small "Mew?"

I know I know I'm sorry I'm late... Essay and assignment panic I'm gonna get the Saw thread up and running soon....hopefully this week...

There was too many - people, golems, shadows - they crowded the entrance of the cave. She cowered against the wall, caught between wanting escape and not wanting conflict. Would the strangers even recognise what she was? Or attack the unknown? Unconsciously, she began to whimper softly.

*hugs* Great to see you back, and I'm glad the wedding went well *adds a forehead lick for good measure*

Intrigued by the scent of oranges and the foreign scent of a new arrival, Mynx wandered in to the Cabaret Room, a smiling spreading on her feline face as she recognised Tanny's aura and the shadow of someone new. "Another newby, Wuffie?" Mynx chuckled. "I hope you're looking after them." Turning her faded eyes to the stranger, Mynx smiled and bowed her head in greeting. "Welcome to the Pen. My name's Mynx and don't think that my being blind means I can't see you. My minions help me get by just fine," she gestured to the half dozen or so kittens milling around her paws, before grinning again. "So tell us a little about yourself? What's your speciality?" OOC: Welcome!!

She awoke to the chill wind that crept through the cave and along her back. Wind from inside the cave? Another opening? Then she heard the soft hiss of a growl. Not wind. Breath. Heart in her throat, she bolted for the opening, blind to the figures waiting outside.

That makes me next doesn't it... Hmm... Finding time might be tricky until I'm on top of my essays/assignments but I'll see what I can do
