Waiting for the next installment of Leif's Saga always bring nice results... nice tale, Leif. Indeed... lol Are you later telling us what's behind Jordan's plan of kidnapping his own children, and why he feigned his own death? Not only did I get curious, but I think this could also be a story in its own! If you don't plan on using them later, I would suggest you to give us a bit more information... it would help this story if we had at least a glimpse on what his motives could have been. I like better the way you're finishing your tales now, without that closing paragraph. They now look more like a series of tales, instead of a story rushed to its end. This is also helped by the time lapse shown between tales, it is like focusing just on the adventures but knowing that there's routine life "in between". Here goes hope that next tale comes soon I enjoy reading them! ~Tanny

*AWWWWWWWWW !!!!!* Tanny shakes herself free of yet another tangle of arms and legs, dizzy from having them all dumped into her head. Blinking somewhat confusedly at all the disconnected limbs, she sighs deeply listening to Wyvern's rambling on Almost Dragonic Brand Substitute Mannequin Arms and Legs™. She leaves the office quietly, deciding she has better take a small break from the Elder of Initiate's Office before entering into a worse tangle. She follows the happy marsupial with her eyes, deciding that sometime later she'll make better acquaintance with him - maybe a short game of tag.... she grins mischievously, leaving silently. Anne stands in front of some children who observe the scene curiously, protective and pale with anger. He is crazy! Threatening us with a pistol, it is almost a confession! "Jessica, back to home! Take the small ones with you - either home or to Goodman Parcel's, and stay there! Do not leave them alone!" Her daughter, eyes big with fear, nods weakly. Anne looks at her, talking more gently. "Jessie, you can do it. Keep to the main street, you are a smart young girl, almost a woman. We will see that no one harms the children. Ask for Nancy's help. The Lord will protect you." She observes as Jessica grabs Joe and Hannah's hands and, calling to Nancy and Grahan, start rounding the few other children around.

Considering it was your birthday, you're forgiven Oh... Happy Belated Birthday!! *hugs*

Attracted by the laughter at the Recruiter's Office, Tanny peeks in curiously. Finding a strange marsupial right on Wyvern's table, she raises on her hind paws to sniff it gingerly. Startled, the wombat turns with a hiss. *Aw! You're really cold!* She changes position, now reading the application. Then, laughing, decides to wait also, this time looking for a safe place on the corner of the room and a bit far from the others. After all, last time she did end up in a mess of arms and legs after Wyvern came in... A fun read, Frozen Wombat! Welcome, and I also hope to read more of your stories of magic and wonder! ~Tanny

Anne rests a light hand over Thomas' arm, but looks at the Governor. "Sir, I respect you as our Governor but you cannot accuse an honorable member of the church without proof. Have you seen Goodman Parcel communing with the devil? What have you seen in the books that makes you so certain he is involved with witchcraft? He has been with us long, and we've known each other since Charles and I moved into this town. You, on the other hand, has been appointed to your office much more recently. And although I have no proof against you, I would support Goodman Parcel unless there is something else you are not saying." ((OOC: for now, I'm voting against Donovan James/cryptomancer))

Anne, stunned at first by Goodman Parcel's reaction, recovers quickly and talks to him for a few minutes, frowning at what she hears. Then, she looks at the governor's grim face. I don't have any reason to doubt Goodman Parcel either... and Amelia has always trusted her husband, she has always said how sharp his mind was... "Governor, please... " Her voice is mild, but there's strength behind it. "You and Goodman Parcel have been discussing the books, as he told me. What did you expect to find, or else... what did you find?" The governor frowns at her, but she presses the subject. "The church is my responsibility as much as it is Goodman Parcel's, and more now with both our spouses gone. My husband trusted the Treasurer deeply. Why did you search him out after my husband is gone?" Did he want to find something in the books that led to a witch, or did he want to know who could track something he didn't want known? ((OOC: when does this day phase end?))

"...is it possible that you have any suspicions as to who is this Satan's tool?" While Goodman Parcel seems to think about her question, Anne sees Silence gazing quietly at the church. Waving her to come to hear, she smiles at her gently. "Silence... sometimes children have some insights that we miss. I see you looking at the church, and you are probably wondering why we have been so hardly hit lately..." She observes carefully Silence's reaction, as the girl looks again at the church with a sad face. She looks so innocent... Allison calls her daughter to her, nodding to Anne in a worried greeting. Silence murmurs, "The witch is against the church... our Reverend, and now our Treasurer's wife... How can someone be so evil, Widow Arthur?" "The danger of evil, sweet Silence, is that it comes disguised as something innocent, something that we don't think will go against God's law. That's why we should be always on guard and never neglect to nurture our soul with the Lord's teachings." Her gaze falls again on Silence as she nods and looks at her mother. Sighing soflty, Anne looks again at Goodman Parcel.

~Other~ Although she has a room somewhere in the Keep, she often spends her time outside, roaming the Pen and its surrounding area. The forest nearby is one of her favorite places to rest, and she keeps a cozy cottage somewhere in it. She is also a frequent sight in both the Conservatory and the Banquet Room. Sometimes she weaves her magic into items given to friends. Thus, she has given items to: Ayshela (boots and brooch) Merelas (jewel) Stephem Hascodem (wyvern sculpture). ~Relationships~ Tanny has made some good friends since coming to the Pen. Merelas has become a good friend after their partnering in some activities at the Conservatory; at the Summer Solstice Carnival, she won a date with him. Stephen Hascodem* is a very good friend and adventuring partner, having been her partner in an AVV assignment during the Winter Solstice Carnival. Due to his link to earth and a wyvern figurine she has made and given him, he's so far the only person who can actually fully mindspeak to her in any of her forms, including human. Leif the Bunny is a friend met somewhere else, when adventuring brought them together by chance. To this day they visit from time to time, and occasionaly adventure calls them to the same place. ~Personality~ She is quiet and shy around unknown people/places, prefering to observe and listen before talking. Depending on her mood, she can show also the suspicious and careful nature of her wolf-counterpart. To her friends she reveals a playful and friendly personality, though strong and quite fierce. Don't ever make her angry, for the claws and teeth of a wolf are revealed in her words and attitudes also. Back to Index

~Physical Description~ In human shape, she is about 1.65m tall, has light-grey eyes and long raven-black hair. Apparently in her late twenties, she's about 100 years old, the average life spam of her shapechanger kin being nearly 500 years. Surprisingly agile and quick, she is also stronger than one would expect. In her favored wolf-shape, she has grey eyes and raven-black fur, being a medium-sized wolf. She's often seen around the Pen in this form, using the keen senses of a wolf to discover and explore the many rooms of the Keep. In her minor tanuki shape, she keeps the characteristic markings and size of a medium, grey-eyed tanuki. Back to Index

~Items~ MAGIC DRESS: a gift from Peredhil by occasion of the Bachelor Auction date; it changes to whatever garment is appropriate for the shape/occasion she's in. FOCUS JEWEL: a gift from Gryphon by occasion of his Quill Quest; it helps focusing earth energy as Tanny channels it, also adapting to the shape she's in. TIARA OF WATERY PORTAL: bought from Achib El Assis Ibn Moussif El Rasjid at the Summer '05 Carnival, it teleports its wearer to the nearest body of water as soon as wood (in any form) is touched. It will instantly dry the wearer when they step out of water, until the time it gets soaked up; then all the accumulated water is dumped back onto the wearer. FAERY LANTERN: a gift from Azuran when he applied to the Pen, it's a tiny magical lantern that emits an inextinguishable bright green light. WEAPONS: when adventuring, she carries with her a bow and several throwing knives. She avoids carrying weapons that can hamper her quick movement. Back to Index

~Abilities~ Tanny can easily sense magic and the channeling of energies. She can change shapes at any time, being also able to hold the changing in a hybrid form for a short period of time (though this will drain her). Anything she wears is automatically taken in shapechanging. In fighting, she'll almost always favor the wolf form, although she can use a sword to defend herself and is skilled with knives, daggers, and bow. She has a natural resistance against wounds, healing easily and quickly in most cases. However, silver weapons deal damage that heals slowly and painfully. As wolf or tanuki, she's able to communicate with her kin. She's also able to mind-speak while in these forms, though most common humans are unable to understand her. Mind-speech*: Tanny's able to speak mind-to-mind though the degree of understanding would depend on the nature and skill of the one being mindspoken to. Communication with non-natural mindspeakers is easier as a wolf, since the skill is naturally stronger in that form. In human form, mind-speaking is facilitated by the existence of friendship/trust ties. Mind-speech is different from telepathy, since thoughts cannot be read directly. *Note: In writing, mindspeech is represented by ::text::. Back to Index

~Brief Description~ Tanny is from a race of shapechangers, who live far and hidden from humans. Unlike most of the werefolk, she has the rare ability of changing into two alternate forms: a tanuki (Japanese racoon-dog) and a wolf. She is usually very reticent about her people and where she came from, not wanting to reveal too much about a people who had been hunted for centuries due to their misunderstood shapechanging inheritance. "No, we are not like werewolves, we do not infect people, we do not kill in a frenzy for blood..." she would mutter in answer to some curious questioning. "We just have two natures, and we are true to both of them. We are very much any other folk you know.... except for the abitlity to use alternate animal form." She can be found easily around the Pen Keep, keeping a room there though she has also a cozy cottage somewhere in the forest. Back to Index
