Updated list of players so far: Gryphon Finnius => Filkiormous Magnanimous Berrison, hobbit from the Shire Mynx => Jagkatha, Elf (female) Akallabeth Giles => Baelestimah, Elf of Rivendel Patrick Venefyxatu Panther Vahktang With 11 to 13 players, I'll be able to add the Ringbearer and the One Ring. A quick summary of how it will work: The Ringbearer can, each night, choose whether he'll use the One Ring. The possible results if he decides to use it, rolled randomly, are: Seeing, Baning, Wolves discover the RB (1/3 chance for each); If the RB is lynched, there will be a new RB. If the RB is wolfed, the wolves get the OR - but if a wolf is caught, then the OR goes back to villagers; If the wolves get the OR and decide to use it, there's 50% chance of a Seeing; Roles aren't revealed before the end of the game; Game ends as per normal rules; RB/OR is just an extra special role. Thanks to Azuran, Katz, Panther, and Mynx for discussing the concept of this extra role with me and helping with the ideas to make it (hopefully) work

By the way... Vahk, if you or anyone does want to play a renegade Orc, there's no problem at all... just be aware that it's a dangerous role And also, feel free to set any background interactions with other players. I'll ask you to send me the final background (if any) just so that I can work better the modding posts ~Tanny

It'll start on next Sunday at the earliest - I honestly doubt I'll be able to actually start running this before Wednesday May 3rd. As I keep sign-up open until I send the PMs... let's say that you have until either May 3rd or May 5th to join Vahktang: you're starting to remind me of poor Eyremon... ... let's see if this time you can keep in the game longer!!! I'm happy to see you still around Updated list of players so far: Gryphon Finnius Mynx => Jagkatha, Elf (female) Akallabeth Giles => Baelestimah, Elf of Rivendel Patrick Venefyxatu Panther Vahktang

If you don't know what it is, you can't be really sure it requires personal contact...

Sure you are

I wonder if Gondorian dwarves existed...

Yeah, that's it, 'shela I'll use the main pointers - I'm planning to include Moria, Lothlorien, and so on - as places. Also, I think I'll be including some of the characters as NPCs (after all, what would Lothlorien be without Galadriel? ) But how it comes out will be up to the players!
-
Hmm... well, Gryphon's WW is near an end, and so I thought about putting up the sign up for next one. I'm still thinking about the mechanics - if I have enough players, I'm adding an extra, fun role... but I'm getting ahead of myself. Theme: The Lord of the Rings (Tolkien's Middle Earth, end of 3rd Age) Characters: any of the races present in any of the three books, that actually live on Middle Earth. You cannot choose a character that actually exists in the book (no, no playing Elrond, Aragorn, Pippin, Treebeard, Tom Bombadil.... but you can play an elf, Ranger, Ent... ). Also, Wizards are restricted, since there are only five that came to Middle Earth. Story: there is the One Ring, and someone has to take it to the Cracks of Doom.... and Elrond has formed the Fellowship of the Ring to help the Ringbearer. (And no, the Ringbearer isn't necessarily a Hobbit in this version!). You'll start in Rivendell, soon after the Council, and the story will take you through ... places . Not necessarily following the books, either; the whole story is just loosely based on the events in the "real" Lord of the Rings, and the NPCs will be the leaders of the journey. The traditional roles are, as of now, set as below. I might change them slightly after the game actually starts, to fit them better to the characters that get them. The wolves are characters who have been lured by either Saruman or Sauron - I'll make it coherent with the character that actually gets to play it; Seer has a scrying mirror or some equivalent ability; Baner: to be adapted to the character that gets it. If I have enough players (more than 10), I'm planning to set a RingBearer as an extra role... and introducing a small twist in the mechanics of the game (though not as extreme as Gryphon's ). Basically, whoever has the One Ring can use either Seeing/Baning properties ... or be corrupted and help the Shadow. There is more to this, but I'd really need more than 10-11 players - most probably - and so, I'll post the full "rules" for this extra role if we really get it. So, post your character... I need name, race, and a reason for you to be in Rivendell. There are no restrictions but the ones already stated - no actual character from the book (though you can base yours on any of them), no wizards. There can be more than one representative of each race, naturally. If you want to play and aren't familiar with The Lord of the Rings (it might happen, after all), post and/or PM me . The game will actually start about a week after Gryphon ends his game, if there are enough players by then. I'll be adding more info as necessary. The basic rules, for the new players

Azuran has just disentangled himself from Ayshela's poucing when he sees himself on the floor again, suddenly assaulted by a wolf-sized black ball of fur that tackles him. Tanny grins and huggles him fiercely, changing back to her lithe human form. I knew you could make it, Az!! Congratulations to all of you!

Spread all around, there are the cards sets of many colors, inspiring bards to ask the diviners, the dreamy seers to find fate, and help their peers. Topic: wind

You surely like dancing in the storm I like the image this one evokes, though I myself would have used simpler words ... I've always thought that nature is best reflected through simplicity - but that's me . While reading, I thought that some lines look too long for a nice rhythm, and a couple sounded too short. The second verse here seems too long... compare maybe with I am just another leaf, At the mercy of the power of the wind, Even towering trees are humbled, Bent by the invisible surges, Branches and foliage giving voice to the storm. Personally, I'd also try to avoid the 'giving voice'... because of the clash of /v/ sound... Again, I feel that it's too long... I read it smoother if it goes like... Pupils dilate in the surreal darkness, Chaotic detail vivid on my retina ... and even so the last verse still seems a bit rough. Two points in here - second verse feels way too long, and the word "forcefully" in the third verse... I can't explain why, but I do feel it doesn't fit though it passes on the image you wanted - I guess . Compare maybe to... I smell the rain, long before. Giddy anticipation rewarded with voluptuous drops, Splattering forcefully on my upturned face, To thunderous applause. And I really like these verses... *hugs* Thank you again for sharing with us ~Tanny Edit: Az, while reading this the image you passed stuck in my mind... the result is in this other thread. Thank you, and sorry for stealing inspiration from your muse

Thank you, Yui. About the archiving function, the problem is that I don't receive an attached file... it comes in-text, as if it were a common txt file. I'll do some more testing, and I'll PM you if I still have trouble. And the function has always worked before the board upgrade, and I didn't change anything on my own side, so I think it might be some difference in the way the boards are handling that function. Edit: I've sent you a PM with a copy of what I receive...

I really like this... though I'm actually unable to say exactly why. The two first stanzas give me a very clear image, and it's easy to see how they relate to motivation and how it sometimes go. The last stanza surprised me, and still surprises, when I read it. It breaks the idea set by the previous ones, but I feel it fits somehow. It is like a pause, a change in focus - from motivation to inspiration. I told you before, and say again, that it confuses me somewhat though I like it. I've read this some times, and I'm always smiling by the last verse. About the use of sublime - I caught the meaning you intended, but it might be because we were talking just a few minutes before this and you used that word. Given the setting/words you used here, I might have caught it without that cue... but then, I'm used to chemistry terms... Very nice poem, Az - thank you for sharing

*hugs Gryph* Rest, and let us take care of the party Well, "them", since I'm not in there anymore... Not likely I'll post, but I'll try.

mm... well, as we're talking about PMs... since the board upgrade I've been unable to make the archive PM (as html file) function work. It sends something coded to my email so I can't read it at all. If that could also be looked into when the current problem is solved... thank you...

Same kind of error for me, but I noticed when a- sending messages, b- trying to check the Sent box, c- trying to check the Message Tracker. Katz, I've sent you an email to the address above
