  1. ah, but often the most odd topics are the most fun! =)
  2. *nods* good idea. Will pop that off this evening, just getting all the kids out the door. =)
  3. *POOF* Your wish is granted, and things begin appearing around your feet. The pile slowly builds, increasing in height and width and things newly lost and those long forgotten intermingle. Fortunately most of the larger items appear around the perimeter, for you are quickly trapped and there is yet no sign of stopping!
  4. =) Thank you both. It's gonna be a bit harried here tonight, with three teenagers going three different directions, but I'll see what I can come up with either as a follow up to this or a future game, if most people want to try this again.
  5. How about something like... So I went back home through the first bit of light The sun was my rescue It ran 'til tonight *still thinking*
  6. Giles - *whew* true, you were! The green text made it so hard to read through the blinding headache, I'd missed that. Good! Now I don't feel so bad about Gryph landing the wolf role! =) Tanny - yeah, and he'd either be amused or annoyed to know that I asked Fae about her choice and to decide her tri-breaker vote, she literally eenie-meenie-miney-moe'd him to death... I'm game to give modding another shot if all the other mods are still busy, but it'll take me a couple days to organize something viable. Unless we want to keep characters/concept and roll this game into Take Two? =) I can reroll the roles if y'all want, and pick things up from the icebreaker party. (with a different NPC kill, since that would twang in your minds from this game.)
  7. Endlessly the trails entwine, weaving paths of wit and rhyme across the flesh of notebook page in drafts of signs to go on stage. The body of my writing lies within these pages. Heartfelt cries of rage and pain, then giddy glee will surface next an aching plea. Idly on the surface trace a notice, seeming out of place upon this mass of word-wrapped heart where public speaking has no part. Tattoos of cautions all may see now camouflage the depths of me. New line: Subtle halos, gold and red
  8. Thank you both. I still feel a bit sheepish, sometimes, about posting these here because they haven't seen the careful editing that much of the rest of my writing does. (the exception being First Lines, which is always "rough draft" posting) I appreciate your appreciation! Migraine, in particular, has run through my head often this year as my teenagers all deal with them in turn. Knowing firsthand the pain of them makes standing by vainly wishing there were more that I could do exceptionally frustrating. You've my wholehearted sympathies, Regel, you and your youngest both! I've never been entirely sure which is worse - to have the migraine, or to stand and watch as someone you love suffers through one. Either way claws one's pain threshold - physical or emotional.
  9. I have always loved your vivid description - pinpoint precision wording floating in rivulets of rhythm so carefully crafted as to seem careless. This is wonderful. I can nearly see the the vision of beauty as you paint her in words, which makes the wrenching twist at the end all the more effective. I've seen many a narcissist across a room over the years, and you lead one to that mental image skillfully before spinning in the mirror. Beautifully done, as always, and well worth looking up.

    Cut it

Wow. I can almost hear this spitting, a fragment at a time, between tightly clenched teeth... driven by short bursts of breath because you're so tense with tightly controlled anger you can barely breathe.
  11. and I can't help but smile when I read this. thank you for reminding me of beloved people whose smiles are infectious simply because I love to see them happy
  12. ahhhhh, percussion mechanics! if it doesn't kill it, it fixes it, eh? congrats on the fix! glad to see you back about! *tacklehugs*
  13. *giggles* I know! When I saw you had drawn the first vote, that got an honest forehead slap... it's almost traditional, isn't it? If you'll feel terribly unfulfilled, I could arrange for the chandelier to drop on you, or something...?
  14. Wow. =) I certainly didn't expect that! Oddly, I didn't even really realize until I went to write up the lynching, that the wolf was the lone sound tech. Sorry if that made your job more difficult, Gryph! NightFae was our baner. dragonqueen was our seer. They never got to perform in their roles, and a couple people didn't even get a chance to post =( because of the speedy resolution of the game. I do hope you had a chance to have a bit of fun with it, however. And thank you for the chance to mod a game! 'twas fun to plan and write.
  15. Seth stopped short as Philip's hand dropped onto his shoulder. "That's very interesting," Philip said coldly. "I'm sure our legal department will be VERY intrigued by that information - just one of many things they want to talk to you about." He nodded to two gentlemen in dark suits who had been standing behind the bartender, and they started toward Seth and Philip as Carrie backed away looking confused and frightened. Seth looked around, trying to look casual about it. There was no point in trying to break free, even if they hadn't had his address on file. There were too many people between him and any of the exits. "If you heard me talking to her then you heard that I'm only a technician. I mix music, I don't store it, and I definitely don't release it." Philip gave his characteristic sneer and shook his head. "You really don't expect me to believe that, do you? What do you do when you're done mixing the songs? You don't really go to all that work to make them sound good only to delete them when you're done, do you? Of course not, you're a professional and you'd never waste your masterpiece. You saved them, of course. Twice. One to keep for your "portfolio" of all the songs you'd worked on, both before and after. Once everyone heard what you started with - which they did, because you carefully uploaded each one just after they'd been put together but before you had "worked your magic" with them - you could work with anyone you wanted when they heard what you could do with such rough tracks. Right? Anyone you wanted, and as much money as you demanded." Seth was shaken, but held his denial. "I... I don't know what you're talking about. I LOVE music! I'd never do that!" One of the men Philip had signalled spoke from behind Seth. "We found your CD from this afternoon's session. You forgot it in your booth when you left for the party. We also have logs of uploads from the same IP which accessed your e-mail. And now, you'll come with us." Seth raged at Philip as they pulled him to the door. "You're the one who kills talent! You only sign people you control - you won't even listen to people with half a brain! I've got more talent than anyone in this room and you keep me locked in the booth making THEM sound good, when I could..." The door closed, muffling the rest of Seth's raging. Sheila hissed at one of her assistants, and music started playing almost instantly. Philip shook Carrie's hand. "Thank you, my dear. I appreciate your stalling him, though I don't think that was your intent." He smiled as Carrie shook her head. Vanessa strode up and began to introduce Carrie, but Philip cut her off. "Yes, that's nice. Please bring her in next week. However," he said as he looked Carrie over from head to toe, "please make sure she finds the rest of her skirt first." Vanessa sputtered before choking out a reluctant "Yes, sir." Philip winked at Carrie as she stifled her giggles. "Thank you. I will see you next week." * * * * * OOC: Congratulations! In what may be the fastest WW game ever, you've caught the wolf! Please see the OOC thread for a breakdown of the roles.
  16. ah, I see what you mean. no idea now, but have to think about it.
  17. we've got a couple hours yet for Fae, Giles, or dq to pop in and post. if they don't, it's going to come down to dice. =) I hope y'all are having as much fun with this as I am!
  18. y'all have eight hours to put your lynching votes in. If no one votes within that time, I'll have to let the dice decide.
  19. confusion
  20. Nice. And I think that revision addresses any problem you'd had with the end as well. =)
  21. *huggles* A belated Happy Birthday!
  22. Savage - you got it, exactly. Having heard Mylo ranting about the English teacher who completely misread it, it was intended to convey being stalked by the moon through a sleepless night. Mylo - I agree about the line "It tried to deceive" as being the most awkward point here. Since you've already used "leave" I don't have a suggestion offhand which wouldn't require rewriting the whole verse. Maybe something like I turned away from it to gain a reprieve But two hours later it still wouldn't leave or something of the sort? You might have to tweak both lines to smooth it out, however you go about it.
  23. Glad this got a bump, as I'd missed it the first time around. I like how vividly you've captured a moment and handed it over, whole, to us. I especially love the last two lines. That's an unusual expression which is still exactly *right*. =)
  24. While I understand the emotion which underlies this fragment, I seriously doubt that any "investors" are looking for repayment. Phases of life change, and those changes take adjustment periods. Those who know you, and know much of life at all, know both that that happens and that you do circle back around and catch up with people as you can. It can be hard when your phase and theirs don't match up, but as long as you try that's all anyone can ask.
