  1. *curse words* See, this is what happens when I wait for people to get their posts up... O_o Ended up in ER with Curious Mylo last night with a migraine... unfortunately that led to a medication reaction which left her with near-complete amnesia. Sooo I've spent last night and today with an 18 year old with all the short term memory, attention span, and world/self awareness of the average toddler. Have the medication/reaction pattern identified (and thus preventable) but currently have all the brain power of a limp dishrag, myself. With apologies, will hit this tomorrow morning. I know what I want to DO, I just don't have the words right now, since 90% of my current vocabulary is distinctly profane.
  2. Alrighty! The Game Thread is open, and the NPC kill will be up tomorrow. If you want to get any introductory RP in before then, now's your chance. Double-checking the character list I'll be working off of: Verileah - Milo Venefyxatu - Ebinezer Marlend Tanuchan - Cornelia Chesterfield Giles Jordan - Giles Jordan Finnius - Ed the Fish (personal giggle for this one) Patrick - Pierre Legrand Merelas - Jordan Mountjoy Mithrandin - Dennis Cleaver (DC) Got everyone, and everyone correctly? Speak now or forever hold your pieces... *huggles*
  3. patience
  4. had a bunny bite your nipple?
  5. The Mayor of Dalton smiled broadly. There were still a few days before the art contest opened properly, and nearly every space was already reserved. The few who were not taken could be used later for such things as ballot boxes (so that the public thought they had a voice in who won) and promotion "of the arts and artists" so if he decided to do this again there would be even MORE people vying for the chance to produce marvelous artwork at below-market prices. His smile grew to a greedy grin as once more he tallied the entrance fees. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "...and with great pride I welcome you to the Artistic Phenomenon!" Mayor Kincaid turned with a flourish and cut the yellow ribbon spanning the gallery entrance. He was immediately pushed aside by the crowd who, having endured another long-winded rambling speech, couldn't wait to see if there was anything worth the wait. Inside the rushing crowd slowed to a crawl, staring slackjawed at the broad skylit space. Aisles laid out in a careful grid held large, carefully decorated display spaces. Each "room" was ten feet deep and twelve feet long, carpeted and furnished, painted or wallpapered, carefully lighted as each artist chose. Sculpture on pedestals, blown glass, pottery, and paintings large as life or smaller than one's pocket all vied for attention. Volunteers at the doors handed out ballots and directed people further in, trying to make way for the rest of the crowd. Each artist, each contestant knew that every good impression was critical. Nearly as one they took a deep breath, pasted on their best smiles, and prepared to meet the throng.
  6. oy... okay, are we all here now? including me? O_o gah. (if anyone REALLY wants to know what's been going on lately, PM me. It's been nuts.) Opening up the introductory phase tonight. Will post the NPC kill on Tuesday, so that gives everyone two full days to realize I AM here and opening things up. *huggles all you patient people*
  7. I haven't forgotten you, I swear I haven't! Got near-strangled by RL and extended family stuff, but the load looks to be light for the next little bit. Have a blinding headache right now, and I think if I tried to write up the opener I'd throw up on the keyboard (severely jeopardizing any future entries), so by your leave I'll get this kicked off tomorrow morning. *huggles all you patient people*
  8. graduation (seriously... that was "performed" at my senior graduation assembly... LOL)
  9. ... gotten up for the morning's scheduled stuff before others in the house have even gotten to sleep?
  10. awesome! This should be fun! =) Mynx - s'okay, schoolwork is important. We understand that. Would be nice if you could play, but it's not worth jeopardizing important RL stuff for. =) *huggles*
  11. ... woke up in the morning and spent half an hour lying there trying to figure out what day it was, simply because there wasn't anything on the schedule?
  12. *giggles* Quin, that is undoubtedly one of the best descriptions I've ever heard... seen? whatever. =) As one who still thinks in Norrath ways, I love it! Verileah - I remember being shy of posting anything here, too. I assure you, though, that you're more than welcome to post whatever you've got. If it's something you're working on - what better place? We have that here, as well as everything from "I just needed to say this" to "written for school, but I wanted to share" to "a part of the novel I'm working on" and it all fits in well. No one here is likely to bite (unless you ask REEEEEEALY nicely) and no one is going to look at ANYone's stuff and respond with "wow, you suck." Jump in wherever you like! The water's fine. Come join us? =)
  13. Since it looks like life is snapping at the heels of some of you as well, I can hold sign-up for a while and leave the introductory phase open a day or two longer than I normally would. I don't want to chase anyone out of ability to play - but if holding it open will chase you out of available time please let me know that also. Sign up will be open until next weekend one way or the other, so you all will have the week to plan your characters. =)
  14. (brief background...) Rolling hills surrounded a small city, constrained in size and access somewhat yet oddly proud of that fact. The two roads leading in had prominent signs reading "Welcome to The Middle of Nowhere! Now entering the City of Dalton." The middle of nowhere was accurate - assuming one ignored the four lane highway a mile beyond the hills to the north, and the frequent air traffic to the moderate sized airport ten miles to the southwest. There were two roads into Dalton. One would conclude that there were therefore also two roads OUT of Dalton. This was a conclusion the city fathers tried to forget. They tried even harder to ensure anyone who made their way in also forgot how to make their way out - at least until they'd spent their money. Recently, however, there had been an uprising in Dalton brought on by the persistent obstruction of a local celebrity's attempts to return home. She returned in time for her theatre opening - wallet mostly intact even - but the near miss raised some ugly questions in the minds of the people. The most insistently asked was "What do you do with all the money?" The city fathers have hit upon a plan to appease "the unruly crowds." They've had all the public offices remodeled. They've renovated the library. They've even reopened the museum! Now they've realized that they can convince their people that they're spending money in support of the arts while saving a great deal in decorating costs, and all they have to do is hold an art contest. Artists will be clamoring for the opportunity to have their work displayed in the new public offices, and to win the contract to provide enough art for all the new spaces! It's a marvelous idea. It will work splendidly! As long as none of the artists gets overambitious... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sign up here - character name, type of art preferred, a little background if you like. have fun! =)
  15. *flittering by with tacklehugs* Happiest Birthday, hon! Hope it's wonderful for you! *huggles*
  16. I wish I had time and energy to put in a proper RP'd post for y'all, but right now it just isn't there. I didn't want to pass the birthdays by, though, so a "just barely in time" Very Happy Birthday to Curious Mylo, Gryphon, and smallscale mind games! *happy huggles to all*
  17. drat. would you please post the edited version in a new post? It's very hard to compare the two with one version only existing in memory. =( I still like this as much as I did when we talked about revisions.
  18. *pounce* hey!!! Good to see you! =)
  19. Just bumping this back up to the "unread messages" for the newer people (and those of us who want a reread), because this is important.
  20. *tacklehugs Merelas* *echoes all Yui's questions* Glad to have you back! I've missed you! *squee* You don't think you're getting away again, now, do you?
  21. wow! that was fast - I just got the PM for mine! =) I think she was going to start a game response thread in the Assembly Room once I could help her link the thread in here. This - I wish I had more time to properly appreciate it! Will have to come back and read more carefully. =)
  22. yes. =( I don't often wake up bruised from dreams, any more, but I've done that many times as well. Though I think the panicky waking up sitting straight up in bed trying to stop the bleeding that is not there, though I can still feel blood trickling across my skin - people look at me strangely so I don't mention it often, but I think I hate that almost the most.
  23. And without further ado - the madlibs! The story excerpt was taken from near the end of the Assembly Room (there's good stuff there, you should take a look sometime!). Good Grief, by Ozymandias, had the descriptiveness I was looking for in this excerpt: His small gnome's heart started pumping like a giant's bellows. His palms moistened, and throat went dry. It was the single most ecstatic moment of his young life. The cares and woes of the world fell away into nothing, and he was left knowing only all the joy he'd ever called his own. And then some. He was alive!; and could feel the cool breeze play over his bare arms, hear a songbird titter at him gaping like a fool, the sound of the wheat rustling in the wind; it was suddenly all almost too much for his heart to bear, happiness filled it so close to bursting as he stood here, in the prescence of this! This living legend! I eliminated number 11 from the word list as it would not have worked well. However, adding in everyone's choices we now have the following stories... and my thanks to you all for playing! =) Gwaihir: His squirming gnome's heart started howling like a giant's guinea pig. His nose flagellated, and hair went dry. It was the single most woebegone moment of his squamous life. He was shiny!; and could feel the dejected breeze play over his bare foot sole, hear a songbird titter at him zooming like a fool, the sound of the serendipity ululating in the wind; it was suddenly all almost too much for his armpit to bear, antsiness filled it so close to honking as he stood here, in the prescence of this! This living legend! Whiskey in Babylon: His frightening gnome's heart started dancing like a giant's Regina Spektor. His pinky flipped, and hips went dry. It was the single most enraged moment of his cute life. The pen and Scotland of the world fell away into nothing, and he was left knowing only all the excitement he'd ever called his own. And then some. He was silly!; and could feel the spontaneous breeze play over his bare eye ball, hear a songbird titter at him prancing like a fool, the sound of the glasses wiggling in the wind; it was suddenly all almost too much for his elbow to bear, discontent filled it so close to kick boxing as he stood here, in the prescence of this! This living legend! Tanuchan: His sweet gnome's heart started skydiving like a giant's dragon. His throat cast, and finger went dry. It was the single most frustrating moment of his bright life. The speakers and dandelions of the world fell away into nothing, and he was left knowing only all the anticipation he'd ever called his own. And then some. He was snowy!; and could feel the edgy breeze play over his bare ear, hear a songbird titter at him hopping like a fool, the sound of the window translating in the wind; it was suddenly all almost too much for his thigh to bear, joy filled it so close to hugging as he stood here, in the prescence of this!
