High energy angst at it best... hmm, also love No doubt, out cast, beastie boy's, eminem, Suzanne Vega, counting crows, wall flowers, tom petty, show tunes yes show tunes( though I have limits), Percy Granger(classical band/piano music inspired by drucken irish folk songs: what's not to love?), some interest in the 'the polyphonic spree' and 'G-love and special sauce', driving and crying, lot's of symphonic stuff I can't name but have played, and hundreds of others... fun, fun... rev...

hmm okay... well I commend for being able to hold together a 9 line 9 stanza form... Like parm said, it's hard to keep something like that from degrading... In my own past attempts, I found that looser approach can help open things up... i.e. alternating stanza line lengths and whatnot... I once experimented with a 13 stanza poem based on six liner constructions with varible syllible lengths... yet choose to open with a 4 liner to set the theme... Predictible stanza forms can enable to a nice pulse to develop, but this can also get annoying... I find it a challenge to manage. It's hard to know when to hold back sometimes...but is all apart of the learning process... so kudos to you even attempting it... Oh it was the "With Their Head Upon The Writer's Block" phase in your title, that set my memory off... I'm sure i've heard the phase or something very much like before, but just can't put my finger on it... good phase though. revery the dreamlost "insert quote" the dream continues...

~Introduction~: Hiya, I joined the pen a few years ago cira March 2002. Poetry is my main focus, but am also well accustomed with rambling, rants, and extremely short story fragments occasionally found within message boards. I am a terrible role-player, but will make occasion attempts when pressed, and I've starting to become interested in Memoir writing and nonfiction in general. Hmm, well I happen to belong to the ever decreasing branch of the Pen which grew out of the game Archmage. I guess I made my bones on the AM bulletins boards of old about the same time and in a somewhat similar fashion as the founding members of the pen; only following a different set of tangent, but less stable board streams. So pretty much, I've always been a little out of step with the rest of them. I grew up around musically gifted relatives, and lingered for years in school band programs... So my writing in general (particular my early stuff) tends to be heavily lyrical with lots rhythmic emphasis. Name: Reverie/revery Official Mantle: the dreamlost Nick name: rev... narrative style seems to be your thing. I think Essays / journal type things could help you develop more... just a thought... I hear the lyric quality too. Simple is the rhyme scheme, but it makes for song-like flow... I can hear a singer's voice in it... The statement then explanation/reflection form of the majority of your couplets works well with the song form too... neat rev...

hmm, sounds familar... or atleast the title does... what inspired you to write this is it a new take on something else...? or totally orginally... curious rev...

hmm, well simple is best... call it something along the lines of: "An End" On recounting our breakup On recounting why or the why A explantion or justification seems to be presented to some absent person there, maybe you could work that into the title my thoughts... rev...

Bar none the worst exotic food experience I ever had was trying 'beetles' in South Korea... I was literally gagging... Luckily, my friend quickly dispenced me some gummie bears from her back back, so medical attention was not necessary... The second worst was trying Sushie with wasabi mayonaise (shudders) on Delta Airlines while flying over Japan. Long story short: it took one emergency room visit, three IV's, and two weeks to recover from the experience... On a happier, note I enjoy eating bison, thai-food, and non-airline sushie on a regular basis... rev...

you guys aren't making being on diet any easier... (heh, dropping weight for yet another military leadership course...) Hmm, never was into the candy bars, though kits kats and nestle cruch always were a fav... Hmm, never could stomach the zero bars though... My weakness resides in donuts and way over priced chai! From basics glaze to old fashioned caked crullers... mmmmmm gotta love the "Hot donut light" Krispie Creme Donuts fresh out of the oven. And i also have weakness for soda and all things cheesecake. As far as ice-creme, I have yet to find any vender able to beat Cold Stone Cremery The hand rolled flavor combinations are to die for... http://www.coldstonecreamery.com/main/index.asp However, I have midigated my obsessions with, sugar-free elipse gum, diet-caffiene free sodas and a new found love of Buffalo (the bison variety) All the taste of beef, with less the fat of skinnless chicken. Yummie... http://www.thebuffaloguys.com/ okay, now I off to eat some nice healthy THAI FOOD!!! revery the dreamlost "cupid don't pull back your bow..." *bump... hmm, I agree with falcon, the free form just seems to work... especially in the first set... The raw emotion comes through to me as the waves of prolonged heartache surge back and forth... I like the viewpoint shifts?...in the second poem. A mix of Declaring-Answering-Reflecting-w/Description-Conversation type thing... hmm, I can almost hear the 'silent sigh' in a lot of it... well chin up and all that... revery the dreamlost "...Embrace your brain, with all it's pain" the dream continues...

hmm... I'd actually side with n2traveler on this one... nothing is more sacred to me then a person's right to try to figure just what the hell's going on around them... searching one's spiritality is just one way of going about it... ~Great generalization and lumping together groups... is just part of the process of seeking out a way to make sence or bring into mind a conception of order for the world... Giving enough time and thought, the process can right itself with mature reflection... It's evolution of the mind... Likewise, inorder to grow sometimes you need sometime to rebel against… That's said, I took no offence at his words and am of a mind to think their may be more behind their exchange than what was said openly, and they (P&N) should settle it out of board... ~To Boaz... I believe one the phrases you were looking for was, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last." It can be found in the book of Revelations 22:13 (A.k.a the last page of most Protestant Bibles...) ~My take on Spirtuality 'vs Religion: Religion: When I think of religion; I think of ritual. Ritual of laws, customs, dogma, the overall canon that makes up a system of beliefs. As opposed to: Sprituality: Sprituality occurs when one is in or atempting to be in tune with the power/essence behind all the dogma… The meaning behind the reasoning. For one can be said to know all the rules, yet still be "spiritually blind and deaf." The rituals can serve as the a good framework or spring board, but eventually I find you have to move beyond them... Kinda of like the phrase, "adhere to the spirit of the law, not the letter..." revery the dreamlost "as we we're speaking of the devil, you walked right in..." ~aimee mann the dream continues...

nice tribute poem... a simple metaphore reminding one of the divine or not-so divine providence guiding man's hand and action... good illumination at the end, though could use some minor editing... Is also interesting to note that the 900 you speak of only applys to military... if you were to say, count the U.S. and other country's various civilian and not-so-civilain like contractors the number would grow far larger... A tragic and terrible thing put it is good that you honor their memories... rev...

my eyes my eyes... wow, Aardvard... you nearly burnt out my eyes* with that rant... and what a rant it was... *in recovery from laser surgery... hmm, on spirtuallity... I used to consider myself spirtual... now I'm not so sure. I come from a mostly Southern Baptist Christian background, with some Seventh day Adventist thrown in for good measure... Add to that my mother's buddist background and my own investigations into Taoism, Gnostic and Unity thought and you get one thoroughly confused individual... So pretty much, I put my faith on hold. Yep, yep, i'm taking spirtual vacation which mostly amounts to a slow yet continual rebellion against my Christian Roots... I've nothing againt Christ, but dogma from a newbie follower that is just repeating what has been fed him/her sickens me... Actually a evangliser of any faith annoys me... Hmm, but I do relize the value and power of belief...Discplined belief or release in some aspects can grant you a heighted insight or awarness into life... and I do look for those that can trancend all the hiprocracy and raise to that level... However, they are few and far between and I haven't the energy to follow or even look for them anymore... Interestingly enough, I once had a persistant leg injury which lasted well into a year cleared up by a faith healer... Not some big tent or televised deal, just a fellow soldier with strong beliefs who happend to see me limping across the way from him... A few words, a brief touch, and a good nights sleep later the wound was 90% healed... and was totally healed within the next two weeks... Yet, not even a year later, I come to find out that the same guy gets kick out of the army for robbing a Pawn shop... So a would be thief heals a broken man ready to believe in anything... He get thrown in jail and I go on to run four Marathons... Go figure? revery the dreamlost "You may be right I may be crazy But it just may be a lunatic your looking for" ~Billy Joel YOU MAY BE RIGHT the dream continues...
