That's REALLY good as it is, in my opinion. It's scary how some people can project gratitude in reading someone's response, to give them energy to keep going. And sometimes they're right.

Old threads can be revived with a creative CPR. Post your works here. That's one of the things what the Pen is for, is to let others grow by seeing what we each individually produce. I think Alaeha was commenting more out of surprise than disapproval, if I may presume to guess.

hmm. I recently switched to Verizon Online (which is combined with the phone bill & requires no credit cards), and I'm pretty happy with it. There are things out there besides Juno! Earthlink?

Peredhil wanders through distractedly, followed at a discreet distance by the attentive Guido and Nuncio, his Giant Guinea Pig Bodyguards. Despite his distraction, however, he manages to murmur polite greetings to all and sundry (sundry being those who cirlce around to be greeted again), occasionally stopping to hug. Despite his tendency to touch everyone, on the sleeve, the arm, as if reassuring himself they are real, he is endured, as if all can sense his love and concern. Now where are Elladan and Elrohir? He mutters. I do hope Elladan has given up on scrubbing Zool's portrait with paint thinner. I'm quite certain Zool wouldn't ever steal from the Pen's inhabitants. Pausing to pick up a gum wrapper and put it in the nearby garbage disposal (black holes are so useful when bound by magic), he paces off again.

Peredhil, who's been enjoying the clever 'trash-talking' repartee, winces visibles as he hears Jesus' name used casually just for effect. Ouch.

Heh heh... To rent (hopefully sale forever): One fixer-upper project soul. Left in bad shape by the previous renter, although some walls were knocked down for potential enlarging of living space. Price is nego- Oh nevermind, one palace with staff eager to please, already rented... (in other words, I liked it)

Heh. I love reading your short stories, you always manage a twisty mind. Snickers Poor teacher...

heh, that's a hilarious song! I'm singing it to the tune of the Freakazoid theme song.

Ouch. I think the stark simplicity really conveys the depth of pain here. No clever words to shield the intellect. The image of a stained glass presentation face to the world, shattered from within is a strong one for me.

I'm not sure I can give a good response to this, except to say I think it well done. You raise some issues, but then provide your own answers - patience, persistence, looking to the future and being willing to face it. I think this is a pretty wise poem.

A call for simplicity and appreciation of what we have, as opposed to what we desire? That's how I took it, with what I brought to the reading tonight. I did have some trouble with some of the spelling - some of it was close enough to two different words I could've chosen either meaning.

I think I like this a little better each time I read it. It captures the simplicity of a really excellent ricepaper brush painting by a Zen master.

At a loss for any wise words, Peredhil just hugs.

Oooh I LIKE this. Sometimes the human touch makes all the difference. Well, that and just listening, instead of trying to problem-solve your way through the conversation. Hugs

Happy Birthday it's your chance To wish a great one, sing or dance whether wearing a dress or wearing pants Let's all wish a Happy Birthday to Chanz! Peredhil looks at his rhyme and his eyes glaze and a fixed smile pastes itself on his face. Elrohir assures him quietly that the effort at least will be appreciated, while Elladan just looks at the everpresent rain outside... Happy Birthday!

but Happy Budda! Blinks in innocent confusion. How can we have humour without U? U rox04!
-
LOL! I like them both.

Like Ayshela, I affirm that this is GOOD and well worth posting, before moving on to the "how can we make it better next time?" phase. Heh, we're here to grow, but I remember the first time I received criticism on something I wrote. "Don't they realize how hard that was just to post? What do they expect? Sheesh. (wail) I'll never post agaiiiiiin....." I guess I felt like I'd hesitantly held my baby up to be admired, and they said, "that's great, but" and then proceeded to take turns doing circumsion, nose-jobs, and other surguries! Hugs. My only thing would be this... I've been trying to go through a lot of posts lately, catching up and such. When they're untitled, and don't even have a meaningful description line, I have problems finding them again! I think it might be because I'm in a hurry so often. I hope it that.... The alternative could be I'm getting senile. But if, as a favor to me?, people could just take their best stab at titling, it would be SUCH a big help to me! Hugs -creaky Ancient Peredhil, he of no vote (and I guess little memory)

Heh, Embrace the Sandman, for he lays soothing dreams to bandage outraged reality. Why am I reminded of Metallica?

Clarke's Law: Any sufficiently advance technology is indistinguishable from magic. the Moody Blues: Descended from the apes, the scientist-priest all say. Most people nowdays seem to think they understand reality, based on simplistic dribbles given to satisfy them in schools. But scientist and mathematician have become the priest and magician of the day, mouthing solutions which somehow work - and so they are accepted. I'm mindful it's all theory, and reality is redefined every generation.

I'm trying to recall why this was addressed to me... I think it's because if I enjoy your works, as I do Zadown's works, I Politely pester people to produce prolifically. And gems like this lay buried like ancient sap, only to be unearthed like warm amber.

When I read this, I think of the Dreamer and all the persona who fragmented from him. I think I should start searching for your writings where in you started destroying the fragments. Were they no longer emotionally necessary, and therefore discarded?
-
I particularly like: In our modern haste, even the Politically Correct Police like to pigeon-hole people. This is a great reminder not to be seduced into brief sketches of people when we wield a Pen.

This is truly a classic! And I'm moving it to the Assembly Room where it belongs, in hopes that many will admire it.
