  1. 'The Fountain' definitely sounds like something to look for. I haven't seen any movies lately, been way too busy. Well, actually, last weekend I did stop long enough to watch 'White Christmas' with Bing Crosby, but what can I say about a certified iconic American christmas film classic? Wait a minute... I did catch most of a rental, "l'enfante", a subtitled film my wife was watching. http://www.sonyclassics.com/thechild/ I really liked this movie. It was very well written, produced and acted. The premise and story was resoundingly realistic. In fact, at times it felt eerily documentish, filmed as it was with a very minimalist approach. It was a very heartwrenching and gritty film, which I can't say too much about without giving away the movie. Suffice it to say, it's not much of an upper, but very powerful and revealling of human strength and vulnerability. I challenge anyone to watch this and remain unmoved, right through to the very end. Though not too particularly a bright ending, it is a strangely hopeful ending, which I tribute to the understanding, skill, and subtleness of the writers/directors. But anywho, what I really wanted to post was something I caught on the Adam Carolla radio show, which I listen to on the way to work everyday (I know, I've sunk so low - but I find him pretty darn hilarious most of the time!). It concerns the movie 'Borat', which I want to see but haven't yet (add it to the list...). Apparently, Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock went to see the movie, and Kid Rock became so insensed by what he saw that as they exited the theater he called her a good many very bad things - and the next thing you know she filed for divorce! So, it looks like 'Borat' the movie has become a bit of Hollywood history, tangled up with celebrity history as it is. Of course, Adam Carolla just had to comment that as far as 'movies' that Pamela Anderson was in, 'Borat' isn't the one that would stick in his craw if he were her husband... ;p
  2. Congrats on fixing your computer! Being on a strict budget myself, I have 'acquired' a computer for everyone in the house, and then some, and they all seem to have their quirks, like obscure drivers for proprietary chips, including onboard I/O and bridges that don't come with the OS! And then there are the inevitable little peculiarities that always come with older and well used equipment - like it doesn't work right. Anywho, I feel for ya!
  3. Woohoo! Congrats Rev - hope you enjoy seeing your work on the printed page!
  4. Have you ever seen a sunset of pure gold, so that the sun and clouds disappeared, but the sky was gold, and lit everything around for a hundreds of miles in pure golden light? Have you ever had a flock of birds take off as you drove by, only to have them match speed with you at eye level, so that for a moment you felt as though you were flying with them? Have you ever laid a trap that took years to spring? Have you ever seen jet contrails cover the sky like spokes in a wheel? Have you ever been in a car driving over a hundred miles an hour, through thick fog, at night, and survived, uneventfully? Have you ever consciously exploited someone's biggest weakness to their own downfall? Have you ever had an instance where you knew if you didn't act quickly, someone would die? Have you ever jumped into the water fully dressed in your street clothes? Have you ever seen someone commit a horrible mistake which you knew they would later regret, but been powerless to influence their decision? Have you ever been in a cold, dark, forgotten place, and saw just in time that you were about to put your foot on sweating dynamite? Have you ever found treasure?
  5. The princess took another bite of tea cake. A happy tune, banged out by a drum, flute, and lute, chimed in the background. Her dress creaked - straining at the seams. Tea-cake dribbled from her mouth and thick fingers onto the teetering stack of plates in front of her. "Honestly," she said, lips smacking, "I couldn' eat another bite." "Oh come on," said Cheives, her helpful manservant, as he held up the tiny mint. "It's waffer thin..." (Kudos to Monty Python...)
  6. Oh, you meant 'thankful'! That does clear it up - thank you.
  7. Ah, very good! You got all but one; thanking. Sorry for being so anal, am only trying to give what help I can. Love the story.

  19. "Are you coming to the picnic at the glade?" he asked. "Oh yes," said Delicious Rabbit. "How could I ever be eaten if I wasn't there?" "Oh, yes, of course," muttered the field mouse. "How indeed." *At the glade, things went a little different...* "Well hello Delicious Rabbit!" said the first man, "I must say you look delicious!" "Do you think so?" asked the Delicious Rabbit, a little red around the whiskers. "Oh yes - may I eat you now?" "Perhaps later," said the rabbit as he swallowed the man whole. The field mouse gave a sharp squeak as he jumped clear back to the edge of the glade. "Hello Delicious Rabbit," said the second man. "Has my friend arrived yet?" "Perhaps later," said Delicious Rabbit as he swallowed the second man whole. All was quiet this time. The third man was just entering the glade and watched as the second man was devoured. "This is most unusual Delicious Rabbit," he said. "Aren't you feeling well?" "I feel most delicious," replied the rabbit as he pounced on the third man, but the man was ready and put him on like a jacket. Helpless, Delicious Rabbit hung stylishly and comfortably. "Is anyone else coming to the picnic?" called out the third man across the glade. "Perhaps later," said the field mouse as he leaped up and swallowed the third man and Delicious Rabbit jacket whole.
  20. Mmmmmm... It looks... Delicious!
  21. Yo DE. A word to the wild: Next week I am having the wood floors in my house refurbished. This means I must dismantle my computer, and may not get it set back up for possibly a week after that. I will be dropping by when I can from work and such but what little free Pen time I had is severely curtailed. Hope to be back up shinier than ever soon!
  22. He said (paraphrasing) "The Pen is what the Pen is, and how do we improve that?" I think.
